ROSELAND, N.J. — The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) awarded $188,000 in scholarships to 44 New Jersey-based high school and college students on April 23 at its Celebration of Excellence ceremony at the Pines Manor in Edison. The NJCPA Scholarship Fund distributed 14 scholarships to high school seniors and 30 scholarships to college students. As part of the ceremony, newly licensed New Jersey certified public accountants (CPAs) were recognized, with 61 being in attendance.

Individual scholarships for college students ranged from $2,000 to $6,000, and high school students received $1,500. Students were selected by the NJCPA based on grades, standardized test scores (if taken), essays and personal interviews.

For the fifth year, the Deloitte Foundation funded multiple scholarships including four for college students pursuing accounting degrees and two NJCPA Scholars Awards to college-bound high school students intending to pursue accounting pathways. The NJCPA selected the recipients and distributed the scholarships. This year’s high school recipients attended Arts High School in Newark and Montville Township High School.

High school award winners are college-bound seniors in high school who intend to major in accounting or obtain a concentration in accounting.

College scholarship recipients attend the following colleges and universities: Fairleigh Dickinson University, Hudson County Community College, Middlesex County College, Montclair State University, Ramapo College of New Jersey, Rider University, Rowan University, Rutgers University, Seton Hall University, Stevens Institute of Technology, Stockton University and The College of New Jersey.
