OVERVIEW

Businesses and non-profits today face an explosion of EEOC actions and employment litigation that can threaten the organization’s financial stability as well as its reputation. This course will update you on, and provide tips about mitigating exposure for, the key employment risks that every employer faces: cyber issues such as social media, device and internet use, wrongful termination, retaliation, whistleblowers, all types of discrimination and harassment, workplace safety, wage and hour laws, immigration issues, laws such as the FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, COBRA, FLSA, and more. Know how to react to developing employment issues, understand recent trends in employment claims, and arm yourself with the knowledge and assessment tools that can make a difference for your employer or your clients.

George D. Scheeler is the President and CEO of Acullence, LLC, of Baltimore, Maryland where his practice focuses on business advisory and consulting services in the areas of accounting, finance, strategic planning, business management, and also executive leadership development.

An energetic, engaging speaker, Mr. Scheeler has been a member of the faculty of Loyola University of Mayland, where he taught Finance and Leadershp to MBA candidates at the Sellinger Graduate School of Business. In recognition of his achievements, he was given the Outstanding Adjunct Professor Award. Mr. Scheeler has also taught at the University of Pennsylvania and at the University of Baltimore. A sought after strategic thinker, Mr. Scheeler has delivered workshops and planning retreats each year to businesses, organizations and religious organizations.

Mr. Scheeler’s speaking engagments are generously seasoned with real world illustrations that come from over 30 years of experience. As the CFO of FTI Consulting, he lead the S1.8 billion forensic and consulting services provider through their Initial Public offering. As the President & CEO of Freedom Federal he took a stalled bank and turned it into the fastest growing bank in the state, earning a nomination as a Fast Company Magazine Innovator of the Year and a multi-year designation as the Best Place to Bank.

He is well invested in his community. Active in coaching soccer and softball for over two decades, he also coached a high school baseball team to a State title. Mr. Scheeler also served on the board of directors and was board treasurer of IC Orphans (ICOrphans.org), an organization that promoted and assisted families with the international adoptions process. Currently, he is a Board Member and Chairs the Finance Committee of Good Shepherd Services of Baltimore, Maryland (www.gssmaryland.org). Good Shepherd is a faith based residential treatment facility for emotionally and psychologically disadvantaged children.

Mr. Scheeler received his Bachelors in Business Administration at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia and received his Masters degree in Business Administration from the College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia.
