Terri Jane Freedman brings more than 20 years of experience in corporate and individual bankruptcy, commercial litigation and distressed transactions – representing debtors, creditor committees, landlords, trustees, shareholders and secured creditors in Federal bankruptcy court and state court liquidations. She has also analyzed, negotiated and drafted transactional documents including contracts, security interests, mortgages, UCC liens and related instruments. An advisor to entities ranging from multimillion-dollar corporations to smaller businesses and individuals, Terri takes pride in developing cost-effective strategies to meet each case’s specific needs and employs a range of options – including negotiation, mediation and litigation – to achieve favorable client results. She has litigated in both New Jersey state courts and Federal courts, and has appeared in Bankruptcy Courts throughout the United States. Terri received her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law and her B.A. cum laude from Muhlenberg College where she was a member of Phi Sigma Tau, an international philosophy honor society.

Samuel Newbold represents companies from all over the country as well as multinational organizations spanning the globe, providing counsel on employment-based immigration matters as well as corporate compliance best practices. Sam’s diverse corporate clientele operates in almost every industry imaginable including, but not limited to, information technology, banking and finance, manufacturing, real estate, hospitality, education, health care, transportation and engineering. Sam has also developed an emerging companies practice – specifically representing foreign entrepreneurs and principals looking to launch start-up companies in the U.S. – and is aligned with several New York City-based accelerators and venture capital firms. Sam is also a member of CSG’s Alternative Capital Group and manages the firm’s EB-5 practice, representing individual foreign investors, Regional Centers and developers participating in the EB-5 program. He has successfully counselled hundreds of individual EB-5 investors and their families through the entire EB-5 process, as well as dozens of Regional Centers and developers seeking to utilize EB-5 capital in their projects. Sam works closely with the firm’s Corporate & Securities and Real Estate, Development & Land Use Groups on EB-5 project structuring to ensure compliance with EB-5 immigration regulations. Sam has substantial experience litigating immigration cases before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (“EOIR”) and the Board of Immigration Appeals within the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as before various U.S. District Courts. A distinguished speaker, Sam has presented on complex immigration issues throughout the country and around the world. He has been recognized in the 2014-2018 editions of New York Metro Super Lawyers – Rising Stars and EB-5 Investors Magazine’s Top 5 Rising Stars in EB-5. Sam proudly serves on the Board of Directors for the Safe Passage Project, a New York-based nonprofit that provides pro bono legal services to unaccompanied children in immigration proceedings.

Robert Nies, a member of the firm's Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights Group, has served the business community for more than 25 years, advising on a wide range of bankruptcy and creditors' rights issues, complex commercial litigations and mediations. Rob has extensive nationwide experience in the areas of corporate insolvency and reorganization. He also has a niche litigation practice that pursues the fraudulent transfer of assets - particularly through the unlawful use of alter ego and successor entities - in state court litigation and subsequent bankruptcy filings. A successful mediator in all aspects of bankruptcy and commercial litigation, Rob is a founding member and former master in both the New Jersey Bankruptcy Inns of Court and the Justice Marie L. Garibaldi American Inn of Court for Alternative Dispute Resolution. He brings a unique perspective to creative problem solving in the areas of bankruptcy and related litigation. On September 1, 2017, Rob was appointed by the NJ Supreme Court to serve as a board chair for the NJ Lawyers Assistance Program and has served on the board of trustees since 2012.
