NJCPA Wins TRENDY Award for 125th Anniversary Commemoration

The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) is pleased to announce that it won the Gold Award in the 2024 Salute to Association Excellence Commemoration/Tribute category at Association TRENDS & CEO Update’s TRENDY Awards on Feb. 27 in Washington, D.C.

The award recognizes the NJCPA’s efforts in celebrating its rich, 125-year history from its initial founding by four New Jersey accountants on Jan. 19, 1898, to an organization of more than 13,000 individuals today. NJCPA’s 125th anniversary commemoration included the installation of a history wall in its Roseland office; a new celebratory logo; an in-depth digital timeline; reflections from past NJCPA leadership; and a special section in its New Jersey CPA magazine.

The commemoration, which was celebrated throughout 2023, included memorable highlights such as its first female member, Dora Roworth, CPA; its first Black member, Wilbur Parker, CPA; and the creation of the NJCPA Scholarship Fund, among others.

“We are extremely pleased to have been recognized in such a wonderful way. Our 125th anniversary is indeed a celebration of everything that has come before us and a reminder of what valuable contributions our members and staff make every day to the accounting profession and the communities around them,” said Aiysha (AJ) Johnson, MA, IOM, CEO and executive director of the NJCPA.
