NJCPA Congratulates Senator Steven Oroho for Election to Senate Minority Leader Role

Statement by Ralph Albert Thomas, CPA (DC), CGMA, CEO and Executive Director, New Jersey Society of CPAs

The New Jersey Society of CPAs (NJCPA) extends our congratulations to Senator Steven Oroho (R-Sussex), a CPA and member of the NJCPA, for being elected to serve as the new Senate Minority Leader and being re-elected to serve District 24. We welcome the opportunity to further work with the Senator on improving the economic landscape for businesses in New Jersey.

We continue to be pleased with his pro-business leadership and ability to work with both sides of the political aisle involving tax reform, such as his successful effort to eliminate the estate tax.

Senator Oroho played a significant role in keeping the Transportation Trust Fund solvent and was a key legislative member on Senate President Stephen Sweeney’s Economic and Fiscal Policy Workgroup that developed the “Path to Progress” report. I am pleased to have been able to work with the Senator and others in the Workgroup on presenting a series of reforms needed by the state in the areas of pensions and health benefits, school and municipality consolidations and infrastructure changes.

We look forward to continuing to work with Senator Oroho to help New Jersey’s businesses and residents prosper.
