NJCPA Recognizes November 5 through 11
as Certified Public Accountants Week

The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) recognizes November 5 through 11 as “Certified Public Accountants Week.”

CPA Week was initiated to create awareness of the exemplary role that CPAs play in society. As trusted advisors, CPAs work tirelessly to improve the financial health of New Jersey residents and businesses and to enable them to thrive and operate more efficiently.

“Having this designated week reminds the general public what CPAs bring to New Jersey businesses, roundtables, boardrooms and the community every day,” said Aiysha (AJ) Johnson, MA, IOM, CEO and executive director at the NJCPA. “It also serves to make students aware of the tremendous job opportunities available to accountants.”

The Society’s CPA Week also coincides with its Career Awareness program, which launches every fall. Under the program, NJCPA members visit nearly 100 high schools across the state to educate and inform students about careers in accounting and becoming CPAs.

Career Awareness presentations provide information on the many scholarship opportunities available through the NJCPA Scholarship Fund, which awards $1,500 scholarships to college-bound New Jersey high school seniors who intend to major in accounting or obtain a concentration in accounting. The Fund also awards scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $6,500 to accounting students at New Jersey colleges or universities who are currently in their sophomore or junior year or in their senior year and entering an accounting-related graduate program. In 2023, the Fund awarded more than $220,000 in scholarships to more than 50 high school and college students. Learn more at njcpa.org/scholarships.

In an effort to reduce the burden of taking and preparing for the CPA Exam, the NJCPA also awards 10 of its members with $750 each towards their CPA Exam fees. Chosen at random, the winners are either Student or CPA members of the NJCPA.
