About Judith H. Germano, Esq.

Judith H. Germano is the founding member of Germano Law LLC, advising Fortune 50 and other companies, entities and individuals, on cyber security, privacy, complex white-­collar criminal and regulatory-­compliance matters. She has counseled clients on matters of corporate governance, internal investigations, crisis management and criminal as well as civil defense. Judith also serves as a Senior Fellow and Adjunct Professor of Law at New York University School of Law, focusing on cutting-­edge Cyber security and privacy issues and leading the Center on Law & Security’s cyber security task force of corporate executives and senior government officials. Ms. Germano previously was Chief of Economic Crimes at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey. A federal prosecutor for 11 years, Ms. Germano supervised and prosecuted complex criminal cases of national and international impact, involving cybercrime, securities and other financial fraud, corruption and national security. Ms. Germano handled the District of New Jersey’s first criminal prosecution based on evidence obtained under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA); supervised major, international data breach investigations; and prosecuted a $37 million securities fraud case that resulted in the nation’s longest-­ever prison sentence for insider trading. Ms. Germano also was the lead prosecutor in the investigation and prosecution of Sharpe James, the former mayor of Newark, New Jersey, and a State Senator. Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Ms. Germano worked at Shearman & Sterling in New York, handling a wide variety of corporate civil, antitrust, bankruptcy and white-­collar criminal matters. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph M. McLaughlin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the Honorable Dominic J. Squatrito of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. Ms. Germano received her J.D. degree, with honors and a full academic scholarship, from St. John’s University School of Law, and received her B.S. degree from Cornell University. Ms. Germano lectures nationally and internationally on issues related to cyber security, privacy, financial fraud, private and public-­sector corruption (including FCPA), ethics, and national security.
