OVERVIEW

This program will cover two distinct topics. First, review types of matters that fall under the “tax controversy” umbrella, learn how to effectively interface with IRS personnel and anticipate the impact of IRS staffing increases. Second, hear about the state of the cannabis industry in the United States and New Jersey, including a deep dive into the New Jersey cannabis law and challenges cannabis companies face as they attempt to operate in a state-legalized, but federally illegal industry.

Prior to founding Eyet Law in 2019, LLC, Matthew Eyet worked as a tax associate at WeiserMazars, LLP where he provided taxpayer defense before the IRS and consulted on state and local tax issues. Matthew received his law degree from Widener University School of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude and was the recipient of the Valedictorian Award. During law school, he participated in the Moot Court Honor Society and was a member of the Law Journal. As a member of the Moot Court Honor Society, his team received the Best Brief Award at the Jerome Prince Evidence Competition at Brooklyn Law School. Following his law degree, Matthew earned his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from New York University School of Law. Matt currently lives and works in New Brunswick, NJ, and he recently became a Board Member of New Brunswick City Market, Inc., which is a non-profit organization comprised of local stakeholders charged with overseeing and promoting business in the New Brunswick Special Improvement District. Matthew represents clients on a multitude of issues, providing solutions to assist in every area of their business and personal lives, including tax issues, civil/administrative litigation, estate planning and business services.

He also assists clients by making meaningful introductions to other advisors in the cannabis industry such as attorneys, bankers, and insurance. Adam enjoys hiking and travel. He is married with two children.
