Neil Becourtney, CPA, is a partner at CohnReznick. With expertise in representing clients facing tax examinations by the Internal Revenue Service, as well as state taxing authorities, he heads up the firm’s Tax Controversies Group. A regularly writer on tax subjects, Mr. Becourtney regularly monitors federal and state tax developments and frequently presents tax seminars. An active member of the New Jersey Society of CPAs (NJSCPA) for many years, Mr. Becourtney is a past chairperson of the NJSCPA New Jersey Taxation committee and is currently a member of its Editorial Advisory Board. Mr. Becourtney graduated from SUNY Albany in 1982 with a bachelor’s of science in accounting and earned a master’s of science degree in taxation from Pace University in 1986.

Ron is currently the Assistant Commissioner of Income Security for the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Employer Accounts is primarily responsible for managing the wage data for over 4 million New Jersey workers used to determine Unemployment, Temporary Disability and Family Leave benefit eligibility from over 235,000 active employers and collecting the employer and worker contributions used to fund these programs. Ron is the Assistant Commissioner of Income Security overseeing the operations of five divisions: Unemployment Insurance, Fraud Prevention and Risk Management, Employer Accounts, Temporary Disability Insurance and Disability Determination Services. Ron has extensive knowledge and experience in both claimant and employer related operations and has been deeply involved in all facets and aspects of Unemployment, Disability and Family Leave Insurance Programs for over 40 years, serving in a senior management capacity for the past 21 years. Ron has testified before the New Jersey Senate and Assembly on issues and proposed legislation affecting the Unemployment and Disability Insurance Programs. He has been New Jersey’s representative on the USDOL sponsored Integrity Center of Excellence Steering Committee and the UI Integrity Advisory Council and is currently serving on the Integrity Center’s State Engagement Sub-Committee on tax issues. Ron has a BA in Public Administration from La Salle University, extensive graduate courses in Public Administration from Temple University and a MA in Human Resources Management from the University of Utah.
