The NJCPA plays a critical role protecting the CPA profession in the New Jersey Legislature. No group has more impact on your ability to practice your profession than the Governor and the members of the Legislature. One of the most powerful methods we use to influence this group is through direct contacts made by CPAs who have existing relationships with a lawmaker(s).
Being an NJCPA Keyperson is simple, and it's powerful. Once a year or less we'll ask you to communicate the Society's position on an issue to the lawmaker you know. You don't need to be an expert on the issue. We provide you with talking points, sample letters, or whatever you'll need to briefly let the lawmaker know how the profession feels about a particular issue. And NJCPA staff is available to answer any questions they may have.
