Kurt M. Watkins, J.D., is an associate with the Scarinci Hollenbeck LLC. His practice is focused on corporate transactions, cyber risk management, and emerging technologies, with a particular emphasis on blockchain. Having worked in both the legal and technologies industries, he possesses an understanding of both worlds. Able to effectively communicate stressors, concerns, and solutions between technology professionals and corporate clients, Mr. Watkins provides a holistic look at business vulnerabilities, cyber solutions, and legal issues. Starting from employee training in basic cyber hygiene, moving to regulatory compliance, and participating in the forefront of blockchain and AI technologies, Mr. Watkins can provide guidance to address problems and assess opportunities.
Conversely, Mr. Watkins assists new technology companies navigating the often nuanced and opaque environment of business formation and development. With apt guidance and an early understanding of how corporate, tax, and employment laws function, start-ups can seamlessly and efficiently transition from formation to capital investment.
Before starting his legal career, Mr. Watkins worked in the technology industry where he played an integral role updating Campbell Soup’s sales infrastructure and later joined a California network solutions company. While attending law school, Mr. Watkins learned the nuances of financial and technological regulations working for the Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service in the Large Business and International Group.
He is proficient in computer software and hardware, and has a concentration in Intellectual Property. A 2011 magna cum laude graduate of Fordham University, where he triple majored in Classics, Philosophy, and Political Science, Mr. Watkins is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, was Vice-President of IT and was President of the Classics Honor Society. He is fluent in Latin, and was formerly a tour guide at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
