Bergen Chapter Members Learn Cybersecurity Best Practices

On Thursday, Oct. 26, the Bergen Chapter held an incredible season pass event at KPMG in Montvale. KPMG was generous with not only providing our chapter with the space, but a terrific breakfast as well. We started our event with time dedicated to networking with our colleagues, speakers and sponsors followed by a panel discussion on cybersecurity. This panel included:
- John Raspante, CPA, director of risk management at McGowanPRO
- Carl Van Dusen, COO of Safari Solutions,
- Karen Painter Randall, partner at Connell Foley LLP
- Tim Green, senior vice president at Kearny Bank
The panel discussion covered many topics around the broad category of cybersecurity. It was extremely educational to hear each of the panel participants’ perspective from the point of view their respective practice expertise. It was a frank, and at times scary, discussion regarding our risk and our client’s risk to the very real and prevalent issues that currently exist today to breech the safety of our information and our client’s information. We each came away with various action items we can take to control what we can within our business environment to mitigate our risk.
