The Impact of Mentoring: How to Build on Success
Howard University’s School of Business found that mentoring programs in public accounting have a significant positive impact on the advancement and retention of accounting professionals. This research was possible because of participation by New Jersey Society of CPAs members.
The research also identifies ways to improve mentoring programs for Black accounting professionals. Three key recommendations are:
- Assign formal mentors with intention
- Mandate early sponsorship
- Establish informal mentors
