Marie Arrigo is a Tax Partner and Co-Leader of the Family Office Services Practice for the firm’s Personal Wealth Advisors Group. Marie provides tax consulting and compliance services to family offices, individuals, trusts and estates, and closely held businesses. She also chairs the Philanthropy and Charitable Giving Practice for the firm’s Personal Wealth Advisors Group, wherein she advises family offices and other donors on charitable giving, including charitable trusts, private foundations and donor-advised funds.

In addition, Marie is the lead tax partner for the firm's Not-for-Profit Services Group, wherein she renders tax advisory and compliance services for the firm's not-for-profit clients, including public charities, trade associations,private operating foundations and grantmaking foundations on a myriad of issues including unrelated business income tax, exempt status, reclassification issues, and foreign filings.

Marie is a frequent speaker before professional groups and has written for various professional publications. Most recently, Crain’s New York Business named Marie as one of the Notable Women in Accounting and Consulting for 2018. She was also named as one of the 50 Most Influential Women in Private Wealth by Private Asset Management for 2015 and 2016.

James Hiles

Jim Hiles is a Senior Partner of First Capital Advisors Group, LLC and First Capital Investment Partners, LLC. Mr. Hiles has over 30 years of experience working with high net worth business owners, executives and medical professionals. He has helped thousands of clients in working to maximize wealth.

Jim grew up in a medical household and learned at an early age about the unusual sacrifices that are necessary to achieve professional and personal success. Mr. Hiles began his financial advisory career in 1984 with Capital Analysts, a national investment and financial planning firm where he built a successful practice. Jim was promoted to branch manager responsible for delivering client services and developing advisors. As manager, Jim created a system for comprehensive wealth and asset management and lead his branch in revenues and client satisfaction.

In 1992, Jim worked with Cigna Financial Advisors as Regional Vice President covering several Western states. He supported for 250 advisors dedicated to solving issues for high net worth clients and delivered hundreds of financial plans.

In 1998, Jim become a National Sales Manager for Prudential Securities (now Wells Fargo Wealth Management). He was a national leader and Director of several divisions including Estate Planning, Trust Services, Insurance, Retirement and Financial Planning supporting over 6,000 advisors. Jim’s group achieved #1 ranking from industry ranking services for productivity and was a member of Prudential’s Wealth Management development team.

In 2004, Jim joined CBIZ Wealth Management as Senior Wealth Advisor. He worked with tax partners in advanced financial consulting including asset management, hedge and structured products, insurance, pension and tax reduction strategies. Before establishing First Capital, Mr. Hiles was one of the original partners of the wealth management division of Cantor Fitzgerald in New York.

Jim is a passionate analyst of financial markets and been a special guest on CNBC, Bloomberg and various national platforms. Mr. Hiles is a member of New Jersey Coalition for Financial Education and has developed a Financial Literacy course for high school students.

Mr. Hiles is a Trustee and Investment Committee Chair for CPC Behavior Healthcare, one of the largest non-profit organizations in New Jersey. Jim is executive member and “Expert at Large” of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a trustee of the New Jersey Coalition for Financial Education, a member of the Monmouth University Business Council and a current supporter and former member of GBCA. Mr. Hiles lives in Rumson, NJ with his wife Deane and two children, David and Emily. He loves sports, red wine and has been known to play the Highland bagpipe, although not all at the same time.

Jim graduated from Bucknell University majoring in Economics. His professional education has included designations as a Chartered Financial Consultant, Accredited Estate Planner, Certified Fund Specialist, Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Life Underwriter and he is completing his Masters Degree in Financial Services from the American College.

Jonathan Tang is a Senior Manager at Empire Valuation Consultants, where he has worked since 2007. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) of the American Society of Appraisers, and a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) Charterholder.

He has extensive expertise in valuations related to complex securities, carried interest, intangible assets, and mergers and acquisitions. Jonathan has advised private equity, hedge fund, venture capital and corporate clients through complex audit processes since joining the firm in 2007. He has managed over 600 engagements for financial reporting purposes, including Fair Value Measurements (ASC 820), Business Combinations (ASC 805), Stock Compensation (ASC 718/IRC 409(a)), and impairment testing related to Intangible - Goodwill and Others (ASC 350) and Property, Plant and Equipment (ASC 360). He has also performed numerous valuations for tax reporting, acquisition and divestiture, transfer pricing, fairness opinions, ESOPs, estate planning and general corporate planning purposes.

Jonathan has presented on various valuation topics at industry conferences, including valuation of unicorn and early-stage companies, discount for lack of marketability (DLOM), option pricing models, cheap stock issues and valuation of contingent considerations, and is involved with the development of The Appraisal Foundation’s valuation advisories. He is a member of Empire’s Technical and Standards Committee.

Prior to joining Empire, Jonathan was a senior engineer in the telecommunications industry, first at Lucent Technologies/Agere Systems, then at GlobespanVirata/Conexant Systems, where he designed and tested Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems on a Chip (SoC) for Digital Signal Processing (DSP) applications.
