OVERVIEW

Increasingly, nonprofits have strategically considered mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, etc. for their organization. We will explore the impact on consolidating financial statements of related parties, identifying supporting organizations, etc.

Shauna J. Thomas is a Senior Manager in the commercial accounting and auditing department of Bowman & Company LLP. She is licensed to practice as a Certified Public Accountant and Public School Accountant in New Jersey. Mrs. Thomas earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting from Rutgers University.

Mrs. Thomas has over nine years of experience performing audits of various non-for-profit organizations and governmental entities with an emphasis on audits conducted in accordance with Government Auditing Standards and the Single Audit Act. Her experience includes not-for-profit voluntary health and welfare organizations, home health care organizations, mental health organizations, affordable housing organizations, schools, and various other not-for-profit agencies. She also performs audits of public school districts and HUD-funded for-profit organizations. Mrs. Thomas is a frequent lecturer of accounting and auditing topics. She has helped develop and instruct in-house continuing professional education seminars focusing on current developments of the Single Audit Act and implementation of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards for for-profit and not-for-profit audits.

Mrs. Thomas is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA), and the Affordable Housing Association of Certified Public Accountants. She is a board member and current treasurer of the Greater South Jersey Chorus. Mrs. Thomas serves as a mentor for the NJCPA Scholarship Program. She also volunteers throughout the year for various charitable organizations by participating in the United Way’s Annual Day of Caring, speaking at Camden County Women’s Health Conference, and participating in other activities to support non-profits. She lives in Williamstown, New Jersey, with her husband and two children.

Glen J. Walton, CPA, partner with Bowman & Company LLP in Voorhees, has been a member of the NJCPA since 1988. He is a member of the Governmental Accounting & Auditing Interest Group and the Chapter Operation Committee, and has been a member of the board of the Southwest Jersey Chapter Board of Directors since 2014. At Bowman, he is an audit partner serving social service organizations, health care organizations, affordable housing agencies and various other not-for-profit and governmental organizations. Glen earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from St. Joseph's University. Glen and his family reside in Moorestown.
