OVERVIEW

The Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program (OVDP) is a voluntary disclosure program specifically designed for taxpayers with exposure to potential criminal liability and/or substantial civil penalties due to a willful failure to report foreign financial assets and pay all tax due in respect of those assets. OVDP is designed to provide to taxpayers with such exposure (1) protection from criminal liability and (2) terms for resolving their civil tax and penalty obligations

HIGHLIGHTS

Learn how to advise non-resident aliens and foreign owned U.S. entities on U.S. tax filing rules and compliance. Belarmino A. Suarez, CPA is a founding shareholder of SuarezBaldomero, P.A. Certified Public Accountants with over 25 years of experience in the areas of federal, state and local tax compliance, audit representation, business advisory and consulting for both domestic and international clients. Mr. Suarez is the shareholder in charge of the firms' tax department serving small to medium size companies and start-ups, domestic and international companies clients in the following industries: retail, wholesale, warehousing and distributors, manufacturing, professional services such as advertising agencies, consulting, engineering and architecture firms, law firms and medical and diagnostic practice, and high net worth individual tax compliance and planning. Prior to founding his own firm, Mr. Suarez was a manager in the tax department of a Big Four firm, where he was directly responsible for corporate federal and state tax compliance, planning, consulting, and research for large publicly traded companies, as well as, small to medium-size closely held companies. He has been a frequent guest speaker before many local organizations and authored many articles on Current Tax Developments, Independent Contractors, Foreign Bank Account reporting requirements, Due Diligence - External and Internal, and on Effective Estate Tax Planning Strategies and Considerations among others. He received his B.S. in Accounting from Montclair State College. He serves on the board of USHAA, a non-for-profit Hispanic organization. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has also served in the boards of various charitable and non-for-profit organizations.
