OVERVIEW

This course will discuss how the assessment of commercial damages can utilize both the calculation of lost profits and diminishment in business value. This is an introductory course which will give the participant an overview of the accountants role in a damages case as well as an understanding of the legal framework as it relates to the CPA, expert witness. There will be additional discussion about commercial damages with an example illustrating both lost profits and lost business value. One of our main goals is to illustrate the potential double dip trap that exists when calculating damages.

Mr. Kim received his J.D. from Seton Hall University University School of Law, his Masters in Accounting from Baruch College, and his Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Riverside. His CPA license is currently pending.

A graduate of Monmouth University, he began his career in the advertising department at Z100 Radio in New York. He then went on to a successful career as an Associate District Manager, District Manager, and finally finishing as a Sales Training Manager at ADP. While there Mr. San Filippo earned national sales recognition twice. He also created, developed and implemented ADP's new hire on boarding and mentor programs and was awarded ADP's Unsung Hero Award. He went on to become Series 6 licensed and would eventually leave ADP to pursue sales in retirement services. Mr. San Filippo then joined BenefitMall where he earned national sales recognition three times in a three year period. Now a licensed Health & Benefits Insurance Agent at Paychex, he has earned regional sales recognition twice and is currently dedicating his time to inform Paychex clients and partners about the ever changing rules of the Affordable Care Act. His experience in payroll, retirement services, benefits, and human resources make him one of the most knowledgeable and well-rounded agents at the Paychex Insurance Agency.
