The topics covered will include: protected categories under federal law and the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination; an overview of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, including the exemptions, misclassification issues and the proposed new FLSA Regulations; employee whistleblower protection under the New Jersey Conscientious Employee Protection Act; statutory leave rights under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act and the New Jersey Family Leave Act; and other current issues in employment law affecting the workplace such as social media policies in the workplace and the nationwide movement towards implementing paid sick leave.
