Jennifer Hoffman serves as the Partner-in-Charge, Metro New York Higher Education and Not-for-Profit Industry Practice and is a fully dedicated member of Grant Thornton’s National Higher Education and Not-for-Profit practice. Jennifer is based in our Metro New York practice and resides in the Long Island office. She joined Grant Thornton in September 2003 after spending seven years at a Big Six firm.

Ms. Hoffman has 20 years of experience serving clients in the Higher Education and Not-for-Profit sector and brings a variety of experience and skills to her clients. Her clients have included social service organizations, religious organizations, as well as foundations, national organizations and higher education institutions, including numerous other not-for-profit organizations and their related benefit plans. She is a member of Grant Thornton’s National Not-for-Profit Leadership Team and is a frequent speaker at external industry events, as well as at Grant Thornton’s Not-for-Profit industry seminars and training sessions. She also serves as Grant Thornton’s Metro NY & New England Diversity & Inclusion Leader.

Ms. Hoffman is a member of the AICPA’s Not for Profit Expert Panel and has served on a task force responsible for reviewing and writing the AICPA’s Not-for-Profit Audit Risk Alert and the AICPA’s Not-for-Profit Disclosure Checklist as well as the Not-for-Profit Audit & Accounting Guide Overhaul Project. She is also a member of the AICPA’s Not-for-Profit Revenue Recognition Taskforce. She was also selected by Long Island Business News as a member of their “Top 40 Under 40” class of 2010 as well as “Who’s Who in Women in Professional Services” in the 2010 edition.

Ms. Hoffman graduated from the University at Albany where she received a B.S. degree in Accounting in 1995. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Jennifer is also active in the community and has served as a participant, mentor, and training captain for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program, and is a volunteer soccer coach. She is the Treasurer of the advisory Board of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Long Island Chapter, as well as the Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of the Audit & Compliance Committee of the Catholic Health Systems Continuing Care Division of Long Island.
