David H. (“Dave”) Schraeger started working for the Division of Wage and Hour Compliance on October 3, 1977 as a Field Representative (initial Civil Service Title: Employment Services Trainee, Bilingual in English and Spanish). As a Field Representative and, subsequently as a Senior Field Representative, Mr. Schraeger has conducted inspections of employer time and payroll records and investigations of complaints in agriculture, food service, retail and in the apparel and embroidery industries. He translated the Apparel Registration Act, NJSA 34:6-144 et seq., from English into Spanish after it was enacted in 1987 and once again in 1992 after it was updated. During his tenure at Wage and Hour, Mr. Schraeger has held the following positions: Field Representative, Senior Field Representative, District Supervisor and, currently, Section Chief (Civil Service Title: Assistant Chief, Wage and Hour Compliance), a position he has held since 1995. In his current position as Section Chief he frequently sends out opinion emails on the laws enforced by Wage and Hour. Mr. Schraeger is multi-lingual in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and a little bit of French. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a minor in French from Wilmington College in Wilmington, OH and a master’s degree in Spanish from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.
